My commitment to privacy

I’m genuinely uninterested in your data. Happy Hanzi is built to run entirely on your device, and this website does not use cookies or tracking.

Information collected

Happy Hanzi collects nothing. Handwriting recognition, the dictionary, radical and stroke data, and pronunciation all run offline; the app never contacts a server. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no advertising.

The only personal information I might ever receive is what you choose to send me through the contact form or to [email protected]: your name, email address and message. That goes straight to my inbox so I can reply, and nothing is stored on this website. I use it solely to answer you and delete it once it’s no longer needed.

How your data is stored

The characters you draw are kept temporarily on your device — at most the last fifty drawings, in the app’s own Documents folder — so that recognition can be improved. They never leave your device unless you copy them yourself, and deleting the app removes them. I have no copy and no way to see them.
